I think the mentality of “why bother doing something if you’re not good at it?” feeds directly into “if you’re good at it why aren’t you monetizing it?”. At its core I really think its about commodifying every last shred of labor and experience.

Adding that this is literally a huge reason we don’t leave unsolicited criticism on things like fanworks- fanfiction, fanart, fan crafts etc. Because there’s a LOT of people out there who are just doing this for the fun of it. They’re doing it for the same reason people go on walks- to feel good. And receiving crit they didn’t ask for doesn’t feel good.
ofc you can feel however you like about hamas specifically and still be unequivocally on the side of palestinian resistance but talking about hamas like it’s some invasive occupying regime or some inexplicable evil terrorising palestine or even a religious hate group is both racist and completely inane. whatever your opinion on hamas, i urge everyone to actually consider the position of palestinians on the ground–if everyone you loved was killed by an airstrike while the world cheered on, who the fuck wouldn’t join an organisation promising revenge and action, when the alternative is looking down at the barrel if vanishingly short life expectancy amid more airstrikes in an open air prison with a 47% unemployment rate. you might not think that hamas is good or right or correct, but you have to understand it as a response to the situation it exists in or you’ll just end up uncritically accepting the islamophobic propaganda lines being used to fuel a genocide

what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past ‘dresses are for women and pants are for men.’ i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we’ve made
